Women's Work
Lia Cook, Teresa Cunniff, Jessica Drenk, Devorah Jacoby, Nancy Legge, Lisa Kokin, Emily Payne and Inez Storer
March 3 - March 30, 2014
Reception for the artists: Friday, March 7, 6-8pm
While exhibiting at Context Art Miami recently, we attended a symposium on Collecting Women’s Art where we heard a wonderful talk by Elizabeth Sackler, founder of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum.
While we are gender blind in our selections at the gallery we find that we are increasingly drawn to works created by women. This exhibition spotlights women artists who use media traditionally associated with women (thread, sewing, weaving) and painters whose subject matter speaks of women’s lives and concerns.
