Like a complex geological landscape, the world of Inez Storer’s paintings is an amalgam of layers,
inviting both careful looking and the pleasures of more than one kind of reading. In her rich, tapestry-like
images, long, long ago and the recent past jostle and blend, creating a collage of time itself: the made
and the found intermixed together, re-invented and retold. Entering this realm of magical realism, we find
familiar characters as well as strangers—sometimes, engaged in interactions with each other we
might not have expected.
