Chris Gwaltney’s work combines figuration and abstraction, hallmarks of the Bay Area Figurative school.  The paintings echo artists like Richard Diebenkorn, Elmer Bischoff and Nathan Oliveira. This new series of paintings distills what has always been so compelling in his work - namely that internal solitude and reflection upon one’s life while living it – that feeling we have when we are walking on a beach alone.
