Forged metal book. This Coptic-bound book was made from silver-bearing, lead-free solder over a brass foundation. The image on the cover is adapted from a 1945 photo of a P-51D Mustang named “My Girl” taking off from Iwo Jima during World War II, and rests in a hand-crafted brass bezel under resin. The cover has been riveted to effect the skin of this plane. The book opens to reveal 12 parchment paper signatures inspired by a pilots log book of the same era. There are 144 pages in total. The stitching was done with butterscotch waxed linen thread. It comes in an eco-dyed, hand-stitched wool felt bag.
